CARDONA JOINS 'ADVERTISING AGE' STAFF

Mercedes M. Cardona joins Advertising Age today as a reporter in the New York bureau, covering advertising agencies.

Ms. Cardona will share national coverage of the agency business with New York reporter Laura Petrecca, and will also work closely with reporters in other news bureaus on local agency coverage.

Since October 1993, Ms. Cardona has covered money management as a reporter for Pensions & Investments. Both magazines are published by Crain Communications Inc.

Before that, she was a senior editor at Travel Agent. She began her career as a news assistant at Gannett Co.'s USA Today, and later served as a reporter for Gannett's Poughkeepsie Journal.

"Mercedes' daily-newspaper experience, business reporting acumen and competitive nature will sharply enhance Ad Age's coverage of the agency universe at a time when that business is experiencing unprecedented change," said Executive Editor Scott Donaton.
