WHAT'S THERE: Ever wondered who writes all those greeting cards for every occasion? Or wonder what Maxine, Shoebox Greetings' crabbiest of characters, would say on her tombstone? No? That's OK, because at least you've probably wondered how you can remember your friends' birthdays and wrap their presents better.

Hallmark has a cool feature on its site called the Reminder Service. Visitors can mark off important dates and the Hallmark site will send them a reminder via e-mail. There's no advertisements, just a friendly "Here's a Hallmark reminder."

Once you get that mail and buy the appropriate tie for dad's birthday, you can jump back on the site and get some great tips on how to wrap it up.

All of this, plus some corporate info and pages about the "Hallmark Hall of Fame" movies and the Shoebox division, is presented with a good balance of tasteful graphics and cute animations-especially in the "Funny, but no . . ." rejected card idea section.
