Cars.com adds N.Y. area papers

Cars.com, Chicago, signed four New York area newspapers to launch co-branded versions of its Web site for auto shoppers: Asbury Park Press, Neptune, N.J.; The Courier-News, Bridge-water, N.J.; The Journal News, White Plains, N.Y.; and The Daily Record, Morristown, N.J. Launched in June 1998, Cars.com has 71 Web sites co-branded with U.S. newspapers and seeks to have 130 by fall. It is a division of Classified Ventures, Chicago, formed by Central Newspapers, Gannett Co., Knight- Ridder, McClatchy Co., The New York Times Co., Times Mirror Co., Tribune Co. and Washington Post Co.
