AMSTERDAM -- Turner Entertainment Networks International's Cartoon Network is opening a dedicated advertising sales operation in Holland and introducing an indigenous channel service into Poland as part of its localization within Europe.

A sales director to head the Amsterdam sales team will be recruited, reporting to Mick Buckley, senior vice president of advertising sales. The new sales team will specifically sell airtime for its Dutch- language service that launched last year and which reaches over three million Dutch homes. The aim is for a 70% reach by the end of this year.

In April, Cartoon Network's new service will launch in Poland on the Polish Wizja digital TV platform. It will carry animation from Turner's program archives and will be marketed and sold to both national and international advertisers.
