(Aug. 13, 2001) -- CBS MarketWatch.com, San Francisco, today will begin running commercials in its rich-media window ad format.

The technology, known as an "embedded commercial unit," will first be used by MarketWatch advertiser AA.com, the Web site of American Airlines. Created by the Dallas-based Temerlin McClain unit of Interpublic Group of Cos., the spots will debut on MarketWatch prior to their launch on the airline's in-flight entertainment system.

The ads are user-initiated and optional for CBS MarketWatch.com visitors. -- Catharine P. Taylor
