America Online and CBS SportsLine on Tuesday announced a partnership that will make the online sports site the first anchor tenant on AOL Sports Channel, the sports section of the online service. Under the agreement, AOL members will be able to access SportsLine's Web site through a continuous sponsorship on the main page of AOL Sports Channel, and CBS SportsLine will integrate certain parts of its sports coverage, such as the Winter Olympics and NCAA basketball, exclusively with AOL's Grandstand area of the site. AOL members also will have access to Michael Jordan's Web site.
Financial terms include an undisclosed payment by CBS to AOL, plus crosspromotions.
In other America Online news, The Hub, an AOL entertainment site, named Gyro Worldwide, Philadelphia, its agency of record. Gryo will develop a brand-building campaign for The Hub, which attracts a reported 2.8 million visitors a month.
