New Century Networks halts creation of original Web content

Published on .

New Century Networks is stopping production of original content and refocusing its efforts on selling advertising across its 140-affiliate network. As a result of the content shutdown, 20 positions will be eliminated and staffers will be laid off or reassigned. The Newsworks gateway site will now be smaller, with content only from affiliates, and will serve simply as entrance and search engine to the newspapers in the network.
