CEO, founder out as Exactis.com restructures

Published on .

Exactis.com, an e-mail publisher based in Denver formerly known as InfoBeat, on Jan. 21 reorganized management. The Exactis.com board elected Tom Detmer, previously president of direct marketing company BehaviorBank/Atlantes, a division of Experian, to president-CEO. The board also elected Adam Goldman to non-executive chairman.

Exactis.com said founder and Chairman John Funk and CEO R.H. (Vandy) Van Wagener left the company to pursue other interests.

Messrs. Funk and Van Wagener said the board asked for their resignations Jan. 15, and that when they refused to resign, they were dismissed on Jan. 20. ``We're terribly disappointed,'' said Mr. Van Wagener, ``we had the utmost affection for the company.''

On Jan. 20 Exactis.com closed the deal to sell its consumer e-mail business to Sony Music Entertainment. The company is focusing on distributing and managing e-mail services for corporate clients. It has more than 30 clients, including Sony, for whom it will continue to distribute the InfoBeat branded e-mail newsletters.
