Chase Bank on Microsoft Net

Chase Manhattan will announce Wednesday that it is the first bank to sign withMicrosoft Corp.'s new online service,Microsoft Network. A teaser ad in The New York Times will be followed by a pagead on Thursday when the network makes its debut, said Gary Meshell, VP of onlineservices marketing at Chase. The opening screen will tout home banking viaChase's electronic banking system, Chase Direct. Terms of the deal with the newonline service were not disclosed, but Chase has had a relationship withMicrosoft since last year when the bank used Microsoft Money software for remotebanking.

Separately, NBC said NBC SuperNet, a contentarea on the new Microsoft Network, will provide news features from NBC andAssociated Press; sports from NBC Sports; Peacock Park, an online "amusement"park featuring marketing-oriented content; and areas for the network's affiliatestations. "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" will also have a large interactivearea on the service.
