Checkfree makes an acquisition

Checkfree Corp., Columbus, Ohio, said it signed an agreement to acquire electronic banking services and commerce software developer Servantis Systems Holdings for a price in the $165 million to $174 million range. Of that price, $43 million will be paid in cash, with the balance in Checkfree common stock for distribution to Servantis stockholders. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in March.
