Chevy rides with CMA again

General Motors Corp.'s Chevrolet division, Detroit, for the eighth straight year is a sponsor of tonight's Country Music Awards broadcast on CBS. The brand will launch the 2001-model Tracker small sport-utility vehicle with a 30-second spot from Campbell-Ewald, Warren, Mich. The push, also including print, uses the tag "It thinks big" to tout the first standard six-cylinder on the SUV, available on the new LT and ZR2 models, said Tom Suman, assistant brand manager-marketing. The estimated $20 million effort, which also includes Internet banners, runs through the first quarter. Chevy expects to sell about 65,000 Trackers in 2001 vs. just over 50,000 this year.
