LONDON -- NBC Europe has named Allan Horlick as its new president and managing director. Currently president and general manger at WRC-TV, NBC's TV station in Washington D.C., Horlick will take up his new post in August.

He will replace Roger Ogden, who is returning to the U.S. to become president and general manager of the Gannett-owned KUSA-TV in Denver.

Horlick has experience in NBC's international operations having led the company's global expansion as director of launch operations for CNBC Asia in 1995. He also contributed to the launch of the general programming service, NBC Asia, in 1996.

His new role will take in development, sales, programming, operations and marketing of both NBC Europe, a general programming TV service, and CNBC Europe, a live 24-hour global business news network. Together, the channels reach nearly 63 million households across Europe.

"Allan Horlick has done a remarkable job at NBC on both the domestic and international fronts and we believe he is particularly well-suited to take over the helm of our growing operations in Europe," says Andrew Lack, president of NBC News for international operations in Europe and Asia and to whom Horlick will report. "We believe he is going to help us build even greater momentum and expansion throughout the important European television marketplace."
