China auction for PSAs

The government of China announced Thursday it will hold an auction of public welfare advertisements that will run on China Central Television Station, China Central People's Broadcasting Station and eight major newspapers. Both domestic and foreign companies can participate. Picking up the tab for a government public service campaign may not seem like much of an opportunity to promote one's product - only the company name can appear after a government ad urging the public to care for the old and obey traffic signals. But advertisers in China have learned to take what they can get.
