ChoicePoint buys database company

ChoicePoint, Alpharetta, Ga., agreed to acquire Customer Development Corp. and its affiliates for $86 million in cash, subject to regulatory approval. ChoicePoint is a database information provider and database analyst. CDC, which will operate as a subsidiary of ChoicePoint, is a full-service database marketing company based in Peoria, Ill. CDC had 1997 annual gross operating revenue of $38.6 million.
