Chrysler sues over domain names

Published on .

Chrysler Corp. is suing two Internet providers in U.S. District Court in Detroit alleging infringement of its trademarked Dodge name to promote a pornographic site. The suit claims The Net, New York, has, since as early as December 1996, used www.foradodge.com as an entry link to a porn site. Host Networks, New York, allegedly provides users with access to www.foradodge.com. Dodge's site address since 1995 has been www.4dodge.com. Chrysler is seeking an injunction banning the providers' use of the other dodge address, which it wants to acquire.
