Circuit City sales up 10%

Published on .

Circuit City Stores, Richmond, Va., reported April 1996 sales of $487.9 million, a 10% increase from April 1995 sales of $443.6 million. However, that represents a 10% decrease in comparable store sales. "Although we anticipated that strong prior year comparisons and the loss of a Saturday would result in a comparable store sales decline, the April results were below expectations," said Richard L. Sharp, chairman-CEO. "In May, we will increase our promotional intensity."
