Citigroup, New York, narrowed the agency search for Citibank's $48 million U.S. account to Fallon, Minneapolis, and TBWA/Chiat/Day, Playa del Rey, San Francisco and New York, said persons close to the search. Citigroup cut New York shops Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, Merkley Newman Harty, Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG and incumbent Y&R Advertising. Citigroup didn't return calls by deadline.
