CitySearch to launch in Austin, Salt Lake

Published on .

CitySearch, a Pasadena, Calif., marketer of community-based online information services, on Monday said it will by yearend launch services in Austin, Texas, and Salt Lake City, Utah. The service already has operations running in San Francisco and Raleigh-Durham, N.C. Additionally, the company said it has added more personalization capabilities to CitySearch/Metrobeat, its online guide to New York City.

The CitySearch service creates a platform for the community, spanning government, non-profit and civic organizations; local businesses, including retailers and service providers; and updated listings for arts, entertainment, sports, recreation and other events. CitySearch is partially funded by AT&T Corp., which last week said it is dissolving its Hometown Network, an initiative that focused on localized and regional offerings.
