Published on .

CKE Restaurants, installing new top management at its recently acquired Hardee's Food Systems, named Rory J. Murphy, 49, to be Hardee's president-CEO, succeeding H. Stephen McManus, who is stepping down when the sale is finalized in July. Mr. Murphy is now exec VP at CKE and will coordinate the merger of CKE's 678 Carl's Jr. restaurants, 26 Rally's locations and 107 Taco Bueno restaurants with the 3,152-unit Hardee's. CKE said it will test dual branding of CKE's Carl's Jr. with Hardee's, offering Hardee's breakfasts with Carl's Jr.'s burgers and chicken sandwiches with an eye to an eventual rollout. Mendelsohn/Zien, Los Angeles, handles Carl's Jr. and is expected to handle the dual branded units; the Pearlstein Group, Los Angeles, is the Hardee's agency.
