SAN FRANCISCO (AdAge.com) -- In the latest wave of San Francisco-area ad agency job cuts, Walnut Creek-based Clear

Ink today laid off 40 employees. The move reduces the company's overall staffing to 80.

'What's going on'
The shop, which describes itself as a convergent marketing communications company, in April laid off an additional 15 staffers. An agency executive attributed the layoffs to "what's going on" in the economy.

Clients include Nordic Beverages, Restoration Hardware and the San Francisco Opera. Other impending agency cuts include the reported closing of the San Francisco office of Publicis Groupe's Saatchi & Saatchi, which agency executives have denied.
