Clemenger BBDO Sydney loses $5m account in client conflict

Published on .

SYDNEY -- Biscuit maker Arnotts Ltd, a subsidiary of US giant Campbells Soup Co, has moved its $5m chocolate biscuit business from Clemenger BBDO to arch-rival George Patterson Bates, both of Sydney, and reshuffled its $20m-plus account between Patts and John Singleton Advertising Sydney.

Clemenger lost the business because Clemenger BBDO Melbourne holds a large part of the Mars Confectionary account which conflicts with Arnotts' plans to expand its share of the $4bn snackfood market.

Patts now has the $15m biscuit business, while Singleton holds all snackfoods except the Kettle Chip Co, recently purchased by Arnotts, and held by small Sydney shop Sleeman Whitaker Heckendorf & Potter.
