CLOROX CANCELS BRAZIL DEAL

(April 9, 2001) -- The Clorox Co. announced it has terminated its deal to buy a 50% stake in Bombril, Brazil's leading cleaning utensils and household cleaners maker. Clorox cited Bombril's failure to meet unspecified conditions of the January agreement, but Chairman-CEO Craig Sullivan said Clorox remains committed to growth in Latin America. -- Jack Neff
