CMP closes 'LANTimes'

Published on .

CMP Media, Manhasset, N.Y., said it will close LANTimes Oct. 26 and merge assets of the networking title into InternetWeek and Network Computing. CMP bought the title as part of its acquisition earlier this year of McGraw-Hill Cos.' tech publications. LANTimes Publisher Patricia Schnaidt will become publisher of InternetWeek, succeeding Mike Azzara, who left CMP. The closing is the latest sign of consolidation in tech media; Ziff-Davis last week closed three titles. Separately, CMP set up a new Austin, Texas, venture, Reality Research, to offer custom market research and consulting to tech marketers. Robin Rather, formerly CMP VP-research, will be president of the new company.
