LONDON -- CNBC, the global 24-hour business channel, has drafted a U.S. sales exec to head the network's European sales team.

In her new role as VP-European director global advertising sales, Toni McHugh will manage CNBC's sales operations in the UK, Germany and France and work closely with Dow Jones' print and on-line publications to promote effective use of cross- media opportunities.

Ms. McHugh will also aim to extend CNBC's line-up of blue- chip advertisers, such as Allianz, Iridium, Hewlett-Packard, Credit Suisse, Mercedes Benz and Visa.

Ms. McHugh was drafted in from WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina, where she was general sales manager. Before that, she was national sales manager with WRC-TV in Washington.
