Cable and direct-to-home distribution agreements for over 3.5 million subscribers have been signed with over 60 systems, giving the new channel a potential audience in every country in the region.
CNN en Espanol claims it will offer "timely, unbiased news in Spanish which is produced, written and presented by Latin Americans for Latin Americans". Its content will consist of half-hour hard news broadcasts alternating with half hour feature programs covering issues such as health, sports, fashion, entertainment and the environment.
"There is great anticipation for CNN en Espanol throughout the region and we are proud to be part of the largest cable launch in Latin American history," says Tom Johnson, chairman, president and CEO of CNN.
