CNN Interactive is getting into the travel reservations business via a partnership with Internet Travel Network. The two will create Reservation Desk
, a booking service launching by May 1. CNN's TravelGuide section will link directly to Reservation Desk. Travelers will be able to make airline, car and hotel reservations via the service; Turner Interactive Marketing and Sales will handle ad sales on the site.
Separately, CNN Interactive struck a deal with the Let's Go series of travel books to provide weekly features on U.S. and European travel destinations to its TravelGuide section. It's somewhat of an unusual pairing; Let's Go books are written by students and appeal primarily to budget travelers, while the CNN brand is traditionally heavily business-focused.
