CNN mobile news service reaches Holland

LONDON--CNN Interactive has furthered its European expansion of mobile data services following a deal with KPN, Royal Dutch Telecom.

The deal gives KPN's estimated 1.6 million GSM subscribers access to the CNN Mobile Service via SMS delivery for free until October and after that, for 70 cents per message.

The agreement comes one week after Bell South signed up as the first operator to offer CNN Mobile in the U.S.

"CNN has recently introduced a significant increase in its pan-regional news coverage for Europe including 40 hours a week produced out of CNN's London and Berlin bureaus," said Mitch Lazar, VP-business development, new media, for Turner Broadcasting System Europe. "Now KPN's customers too will be able to benefit from CNN's commitment to the region."
