CNN, 'Time', 'Asiaweek' join forces on Asian web site

HONG KONG--Time Inc. weekly titles Time and Asiaweek have joined forces with to launch AsiaNow, a multimedia online news and information destination covering the Asia-Pacific region.

According to Scott Woelfel, CNN senior VP, general manager and editor-in-chief of CNN Interactive, AsiaNow combines's news gathering resources and Asia coverage with Time and Asiaweek 's analysis and commentary on regional events and issues.

The site, which is supported by advertising, covers regional financial markets, weather, sports, entertainment and travel news from around the region, as well as Web-exclusive columns, news updates and commentary from analysts around the region.

The title's existing sites --, and --combined serve more than 9.5 million page impressions to Asia-Pacific users each month. "Given's success in building a strong Internet following in Asia Pacific, AsiaNow allows us to greatly expand our news coverage throughout the region and produce more and better feature content customized for Asia-Pacific users," explains Mr. Woelfel.

Turner Broadcasting Sales and Time Inc. New Media will both be responsible for selling the advertising inventory on AsiaNow.
