CNN, 'Time', 'Asiaweek' join forces on Asian web site

Published on .

HONG KONG--Time Inc. weekly titles Time and Asiaweek have joined forces with CNN.com to launch AsiaNow, a multimedia online news and information destination covering the Asia-Pacific region.

According to Scott Woelfel, CNN senior VP, general manager and editor-in-chief of CNN Interactive, AsiaNow combines CNN.com's news gathering resources and Asia coverage with Time and Asiaweek 's analysis and commentary on regional events and issues.

The site, which is supported by advertising, covers regional financial markets, weather, sports, entertainment and travel news from around the region, as well as Web-exclusive columns, news updates and commentary from analysts around the region.

The title's existing sites -- CNN.com, TIME.com and Asiaweek.com --combined serve more than 9.5 million page impressions to Asia-Pacific users each month. "Given CNN.com's success in building a strong Internet following in Asia Pacific, AsiaNow allows us to greatly expand our news coverage throughout the region and produce more and better feature content customized for Asia-Pacific users," explains Mr. Woelfel.

Turner Broadcasting Sales and Time Inc. New Media will both be responsible for selling the advertising inventory on AsiaNow.
