Coca-Cola Co. said it signed a five-year global deal making Coca-Cola Classic the official soft drink for Nascar auto racing, supplanting rival Pepsi-Cola, the official Nascar soft drink for the past three years. The estimated $100 million sponsorship starts Jan. 1, and plans call for special ads, in-store displays, packaging and promotions. Nascar celebrates its 50th anniversary in 1998. Coca Cola Co. in the past has sponsored individual Nascar racing cars. DMB&B, St. Louis, handles for Coca-Cola.
