Coke, Turner huddle

Published on .

Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, is in discussions with Turner Broadcasting System's marketing solutions group about a cross-media deal, Steven Heyer, president-chief operating officer of Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting System, said today at the PaineWebber Media Conference in New York. The deal could include Coke advertising on Time Warner's TV, Internet and Time Inc. magazine properties. Also at the conference, Peter Chernin, president-chief operating officer of News Corp./Fox Entertainment Group, said his company is "not happy with the way things are" at Fox Broadcasting Co. He said the network, whose ratings are down, has drifted away from its core 18-49 audience and become too much like CBS. He also said the network has suffered from brand dilution and poor marketing, over-reliance on reality programming, and too many new shows.
