The New York-based company is running ads in the entertainment section of CNN.com - under the Total E and Columbiahouse.com brands - as the Web site's exclusive recorded music and video seller.
Total E offers more than 150,000 music titles and 35,000 video titles and has an extensive catalog that it claims provides access to many more hard-to-find items than any conventional store could.
The online retailer is also packaging its retail offer with editorial content, such as music audio clips, reviews and artist profiles.
Columbia House claims to be the first full service online retailer for home entertainment and the world's biggest direct marketer of home entertainment products, with more than 15 million members in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
