Comedycentral.com to launch Web radio station

Published on .

Comedycentral.com on Oct. 2 will launch a 24-hour, all-comedy Internet radio station, via Netradio.com. Comedycentral.com, which is currently a promotional site for the cable network's comedy program, is planning a major relaunch in April 2001 as a destination for original comedy content. Key to the expansion is comedycentral.com's plans to work with producers of the network's original shows to create Web-exclusive extensions of plot lines, characters and back stories. There also will be a stage created for "open mike" new comedy talent. Comedy Central is a joint venture between Time Warner and Viacom.
