Coming soon: Latest Internet survey

Published on .

Researcher Find/SVP on Thursday will release the results of its first American Internet User survey, billed as the "most comprehensive, indepth look to date at Internet users: their numbers, characteristics and views."

Find/SVP's findings will be viewed with interest; it's the third survey in recent months to offer a gauge of the number of people using the Internet and World Wide Web. Earlier surveys from Nielsen Media Research/CommerceNet and O'Reilly & Associates were criticized for their methodologies. Nielsen, which reported 24 million total Internet users was accused of inflating its numbers, while others perceived O'Reilly's results--5.8 million with direct Internet access--as too low.
