Communications revenues leap 10.2%

Revenues for publicly reporting communications companies jumped 10.2% to $152.5 billion in 1994, the only double-digit increase of the last five years, according to Veronis, Suhler & Associates' annual Communications Industry Report. Of the 13 industry segments analyzed, business information services had the best operating cash flow returns on assets, 23.6%, up from 22% in 1993, followed by newspaper publishing, business press, broadcasting and interactive digital media. Ad agencies ranked 12th at 9.3%, just ahead of filmed entertainment.
