Published on .

Compaq Computer Corp., Houston, is expected to move media on its estimated $250 million to $300 million account to DDB Needham Worldwide and its Optimum Media unit, both New York, from Ammirati Puris Lintas, New York, people familiar with plans said this afternoon. Compaq June 2 moved creative to DDB Needham from Ammirati. Andrew Salzman, VP-worldwide advertising and brand strategy, on Tuesday said Ammirati would handle media "on an interim basis," and that Compaq would look at DDB Needham and parent Omnicom Group's media expertise as part of what could be "further consolidation." Compaq, DDB and an Ammirati executive weren't available at deadline.
