CompuServe micro-targets business customers

CompuServe's VP-Interactive Services Scott Kauffman said his service has been researching the best way to reach the small and home office markets which the company has said it would target through its CompuServe for Business initiative.

Working with Odyssey Research, he said CompuServe has decided to roll out two versions of its business product--one for home office users and another, priced differently, for small office users. Creative for home office users will begin appearing during late first or early second quarter of 1997, he said.

According to Odyssey figures, "One third of our current members run businesses from the home," said Mr. Kauffman. "About 20% of our users' sole source of income is from home businesses, and an additional 15% have a home office" outside their workplace.
