,The Internet may be hip, but CompuServe's got the WOW factor.

CompuServe this month launches its new, family-friendly WOW online service. Boasting colorful screens-which look different depending on whether you're a kid or an adult-as well as content from `Sports Illustrated for Kids,' `National Geographic' and others, CompuServe hopes to bring something different to the consumer online market.

The service costs $17.95 per month for unlimited access, including access to the Internet (via Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser).

It won't carry ads at launch but will eventually take limited home page and content area sponsorships.

Direct response TV spots from Martin Direct, Richmond, Va., and print advertising from ReSource Marketing, Columbus, Ohio, broke March 15. CompuServe agency of record DDB Needham Worldwide, Chicago, will pick up the business this summer.
