CONRAD WILL HEAD CANNES JURY FOR '96

CHICAGO-Michael Conrad, a top creative at Leo Burnett Worldwide, will serve as jury president of the 1996 Cannes International

Advertising Festival.

Mr. Conrad, group president and deputy chief creative officer at Burnett, will serve as president of both the film and press/poster competitions. The Cannes festival instituted the dual presidency this year under U.K. adman Frank Lowe.

The Burnett executive, who oversees the agency's worldwide Philip Morris Cos. account, said he's particularly interested in recognizing "advertising built on strong local insight."

All eyes will be on Mr. Conrad's juries next year to see whether Cannes awards a Grand Prix in the film or press and poster divisions. No Grand Prix was awarded in either category this year, for the first time since 1980.

Mr. Conrad co-founded Frankfurt agency Lurzer Conrad in 1975, joining Burnett five years later when his shop merged with Burnett's German office.
