Consumer groups put car dealers under scrutiny

A coalition of consumer advocacy groups and state attorneys general plans to launch a study of new-car dealer advertising clout this fall, Automotive News reports. The Ralph Nader-inspired Consumer Task Force for Automotive Issues believes dealers often suppress news coverage of shady auto sales practices by threatening to pull their advertising.
