Content deals aid mag's site

Newsweek's long-awaited Web site launched October 4th with its entire weekly news content now online. The site, run by the newly formed unit Washington Post Newsweek Interactive and created in-house, includes deals with sister publisher The Washington Post for daily news and Encyclopaedia Britannica for in-depth information.

Until now, Newsweek published content through its area on America Online. In fact, Newsweek had to break the Monica Lewinsky scandal on AOL and through Now it has an area called Extra for breaking news not in the magazine. plans to add searchable archives and an online marketplace for electronic commerce.
