Coppola directs coffee ad

Published on .

Illycaffe, the upscale Italian coffee company known for using well-known visual artists in its marketing, has enlisted "Godfather'' director Francis Ford Coppola to direct a brand-building commercial dedicated to Italian barristas, or coffee bar workers. The spot will air on Italian TV next month. Mr. Coppola is a big fan of the Italian brew, said a spokesman for Trieste, Italy-based Illycaffe. He even makes an appearance in the movielike ad. No agency was involved.
