Cordiant names Seelert CEO

Published on .

London-based Cordiant PLC agency holding company ended a six-month search for a new top executive Tuesday, confirming the appointment of former international marketer Robert L. Seelert, 52, as CEO. Mr. Seelert, an American, starts immediately and will divide his time between London and New York. The company was originally seeking a chairman, but Charlie Scott, CEO and acting chairman since Maurice Saatchi was ousted in December, will now move into that role.

In a 23-year career with General Foods Corp. ending in 1989, Mr. Seelert rose to president-CEO of the Worldwide Coffee & International Foods division. He then became president-CEO of Topco Associates, a $2.6 billion private-label grocery cooperative. In 1991 he moved to Kayser-Roth Corp. as president. He resigned in January 1994.
