Costello goes to Republic Industries

John H. Costello, who spearheaded the marketing turnaround at Sears, Roebuck & Co. as exec VP-marketing, is leaving to become president of Republic Industries. Mr. Costello, 52, and current chairman of the Association of National Advertisers, will report to Co-CEO Steven Berrard and be responsible for building the AutoNation USA brand effective Jan. 1. At Sears, Mr. Costello will be succeeded by Mark A. Cohen, currently senior VP-merchandising for Sears full-line stores.
