Council notes 'vulgar' networks

Published on .

Network TV is growing more vulgar and sexual despite the addition of content ratings last year, contends a study released today by the Parents Television Council. ABC was listed as the network that was "most offensive," followed by Fox. U.S. Sens. Sam Brownback (R., Kan.) and Joe Lieberman (D., Conn.) praised the report and suggested that in the push for younger audiences, networks were overstepping their moral obligations to the nation. Sen. Lieberman suggested the Federal Communications Commission should start examining program content in looking at whether station licenses should be renewed.
