Cox backs Digital Domain

Published on .

Cox Enterprises became a strategic partner in Digital Domain, a creator of visual effects for movies and advertising. Cox will share equally in the company with IBM Corp. and Digital's principals, James Cameron and Stan Winston.

The 3-year-old company said its new partner will help boost its presence in interactive media. Digital Domain produced a Barbie CD-ROM for Mattel that was launched at this year's Toy Fair. The company also is developing a disc with IBM and another CD based on William Bennett's ``Book of Virtues.''

Budweiser has used Digital Domain's special effects capabilities for its ``Clydesdales,'' ``Ants'' and ``Frogs'' commercials.
