Cox and LookSmart unveil local search engine

Cox Interactive Media and LookSmart Nov. 12 introduced a local search engine for the top 65 markets in the U.S. Advertisers now will be able to buy on any or across the 65 local search engines created by LookSmart, which includes the 25 markets where Cox has a Web presence. Cox Interactive Media also announced that it has cut co-branding partnership and distribution deals with companies including AutoConnect, BottomDollar.com, iName, Realtor.com, Talk City and Thomson Investors Network.

'Newsweek' and washingtonpost.com launch commerce channel

Newsweek.com and washingtonpost.com launched Marketplace, an electronic commerce channel on their Web sites. Marketplace features comparison shopping search results using Junglee software, plus browsing and buying in 11 categories including books, fashion, gifts, music and toys. Over the next few weeks, Marketplace will also be integrated into contextually relevant areas on both news Web sites. The publications, which are both owned by Washington Post Co.'s Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive subsidiary, said the links will be clearly marked and distinguishable from editorial content.
