Cox regroups for interactive

Published on .

Cox Enterprises restructured its interactive business, forming a new unit called Cox Interactive Media and naming Peter Winter as president. Mr. Winter had been VP-market research at Cox Newspapers and had served as interim CEO of the New Century Network, a newspaper consortium creating local Internet services. The new Cox interactive unit will operate all the company's local online services and will focus on developing city-themed sites and specialty sites. The unit will have 90 employees.

Cox has an aggressive rollout plan for online work, including Go West, a joint effort with Scripps Howard launching July 16 that will provide information on outdoor activities in the Western U.S. Cox also intends third-quarter rollouts for city-themed sites in Atlanta and Austin, Texas, two cities where it has newspapers.
