Crain acquires HR monthly 'Workforce'

Published on .

[Detroit] Crain Communications, Advertising Age's parent company, has added Workforce to its family of publications. The monthly covering news, trends and analysis for human-resources professionals was acquired from ACC Communications, a family-owned business that published the title for more than 60 years.

Originally published as The Journal of Personnel Research, and then as Personnel Journal, Workforce, with a circulation of 47,500 and 275,000 registered online users, will celebrate its 80th anniversary this year.

Under the new ownership, all top management will remain in their positions. Publisher Margaret Magnus will report to Bill Bisson, VP-publisher, Pensions & Investments and Investment News. Carroll Lachnit is Workforce's editor, Ron Spink is sales director, Elizabeth Hartzell is circulation director and Bob Dortch is technology director. Workforce has about 20 full-time employees; the headquarters will remain in its current location of Costa Mesa, Calif.
