Crain Communications, London, publisher of Advertising Age, has bought the U.K.-based publication Automotive International from Leading Edge Publishing and will continue to develop the publication into a global business magazine. Crain is also publisher of Automotive News and Automotive News Europe.

Automotive International Editor Chris Wright and Sales Director Nick White will continue in those posts. Peter Brown, associate publisher of Automotive News and Automotive News Europe, will also be associate publisher and executive editor of Automotive International.

As a global title, frequency will shift from monthly to six times a year. Circulation will be expanded in Asia-Pacific and Latin America, and the next issue, the first under Crain, will appear in November. "Automotive International is the perfect platform for a thoroughly global publication," said Keith Crain, chairman of Crain Communications Inc., in Detroit. "We have admired Automotive International, and it gives us a stable of publications that are edited specifically for the North American, European and now the global markets."

"This is the age of consolidation and globalization," said a statement by Anthony Cheverall, editorial managing director of Leading Edge Publishing, founder of AI. "Crain was our company of choice for the further growth of Automotive International. We take immense pride in our achievements over the past five years, and are confident the newspaper is in good and progressive hands."
