Cutbacks, closings at Ziff-Davis

Ziff-Davis, New York, will cut its workforce 10% and shutter three publications: Internet Business, Equip and Windows Pro. The restructuring will result in a one-time pre-tax charge of $50 million to $60 million. The company also announced plans for an initial public offering of a tracking stock for its Internet business, ZDNet.
